Drumming Workshop
On Monday, we had a very special visit from 'Drumming is Fun' led by Malcolm and Justine. It started with a whole school assembly introducing djembe drums and dunduns from West Africa. They introduced everyone to West African culture, drumming rhythms and songs as well as some African dancing.
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in workshops in the morning and rehearsals in the afternoon, followed by an amazing performance to the rest of the school and to parents and carers who were able to attend.
It really was spectacular and the leaders commented several times about how brilliant the children were. Their listening and behaviour were exemplary, which enabled them to learn a huge amount in a short space of time, perfect the skills taught and perform confidently to an audience.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and it was lovely to receive such positive feedback about our school and all the children from our visitors. We were even left this little note on our ‘Celebration Board’ in the staff room!
