Service - caring for our world
Eco Warriors
After noticing that her classroom’s food waste wasn't being recycled, Olivia from Willow class, took the initiative to find a solution. She began providing biodegradable bags for the class bin and now takes the waste home every Friday to ensure it is recycled in her family's food bin. It is a great example of this term's school value of service, showing a young pupil identifying a school need and taking practical steps to help. This project forms part of the work toward her Rainbows Eco badge and is a simple but effective way of caring for our environment.
Well done Olivia!
Our Eco Warriors also noticed a problem relating to recycling, identifying that the school was not able to recycle milk bottle containers. They took action and have organised for the cartons to be collected in the school office so that they can be added regularly to domestic recycling by Mrs Durham.
During the week, our Eco Warrior team has also been planting again. Not only does this help our school look beautiful, it also aims to attract pollinators, provide a habitat for insects and gives us a wonderful opportunity to build a sense of responsibility and care for nature. We will certainly need a watering rota! Thank you Eco Warriors and Mrs Durham.
